A river runs through it book 1st Edition 1st printing title page norman maclean

A river runs through it book 1st Edition 1st printing title page norman maclean. Intact dust jacket, not price clipped. However, I found it was lacking one point common to those, a misspelling on page 27. The title page is absolutely a 1st printing title page, with the isbn lacking one 5. Also, the light blue cloth boards and the dust jacket appear to be consistent with the extraordinarily scarce first printing as well.

What I suspect though is that the original owner was a perfectionist (not an uncommon trait for fly fishermen) and that the spelling mistake on page 27 annoyed them. Im guessing they had the flawed text block professionally replaced with that of a corrected second printing. The text of the book is unmarked and in great condition!

Another explanation might be that the original owner somehow damaged part of their 1st printing and chose to merge the two books. For sure its a first print title page and appears to be first dust jacket and likely boards too. Overall, its a beautiful, unusual, and rare copy of Macleans masterpiece, very likely one of a kind.
