Unique Robert Holmes signed and framed The Two Doctors book cover

Robert Holmes was a writer for the programme from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, as well as script editing what is regarded as many as'The Golden Era' in the mid 1970's. His name is legendary within fandom, and beyond. He has often been voted'Best Writer', while RussellT. Davies stated that Holmes serial The Ark in Space is his favourite story from the original series, asserting his opinion that Robert Holmes was on par with other great screenwriters such as Dennis Potter.

Despite being a prolific screenwriter, Holmes found it much more difficult to novelise his stories. He wrote what became The Prologue to the 1978 Target Book release of his story The Time Warrior, but that was all he could manage. Finally, however, in 1985 he novelised his then latest story The Two Doctors. Doctor Who novel and a major event. The cover for the novel was by renowned Who artist Andrew Skilleter. It is within the original frame that measures 32cm x 27cm. On the mount Robert Holmes has written: Target's 100th - my first! Sadly it was also Robert's last.
